Overview

The Department of Pulmonary Medicine at ACTREC includes subspecialties clinics such as Oncopulmonology, Obstructive airway diseases and Sleep clinic, ILD clinic, TB clinic, and Interventional pulmonology. Since inception in December 2023, the Department has seen tremendous growth in the services offered and utilized. The Department caters to 4000 outpatient referrals, nearly 1000 in patient referrals, 3000 Pulmonary Function Tests in 2025 and has exceeded 500 interventional pulmonology procedures so far.

  • Apreventive and lung screening clinic for high-risk patients: COPD, ILD patients..
  • Advanced bronchoscopy.
  • Staging and diagnostic EBUS.
  • Diagnostic/medical thoracoscopy.
  • Perioperative respiratory optimization for onco-surgeries.
  • Management ofManagement of cancer therapy-related respiratory complications.
  • Management of concomitant pulmonary comorbidities in patients with cancer.
  • TB clinic tied up with National TB Elimination program for early diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis.
  • Joint clinics with oncologists for management of thoracic malignancies and non- thoracic malignancies with pulmonary comorbidities.
Education
  • Short-term training such as workshops on bronchoscopy, EBUS, Thoracoscopy.
  • 1 year Senior Residency in Pulmonary Medicine, Oncopulmonology and Interventional Pulmonology where residents are given supervised training in managing pulmonary ailments in the outpatient, in-patient and ICU setting, basic and advanced bronchoscopy, and EBUS.
  • Observerships in bronchoscopy, EBUS, Oncopulmonology
  • Research is encouraged in various fields of Oncopulmonology.
