Research Interests

  • The comprehensive mechanism of intratumoral germinal center formation
  • How the effectiveness of antibodies produced by tumor-infiltrating B cell is determined by the tumor microenvironment and conventional therapies such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy
  • Developing novel vaccines strategies for these cancers
  • Developing off-the-shelf engineered CAR products with reduced GvHD risks.

RESEARCH

Solid tumor malignancies are often infiltrated with prognostically relevant immune cells that include myeloid cells, lymphocytes, and NK cells. The multicellular complex interactions between immune cells and non-immune cells in the tumor microenvironment determine sustained robust effective antitumor immune response. It is evident that a coordinated humoral response with cellular arm of adaptive immunity develops robust and sustained effectiveness and long-term memory associated with immune protection against multiple cancers. The crosstalk of B lymphocytes with other immune cells at tumor beds is an area of strong interest. We speculate that a broader cellular network along with immune and non-immune cells work synergistically to form intratumoral germinal center providing strong antibody driven protection against epithelial malignancies. The insights will aid in next generation cellular therapies to target solid tumors effectively. The lab research focuses primarily in women: breast cancer, ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer.
