CHILAKAPATI  LAB

Welcome to the world of vibrational spectroscopy application in cancer
Dr. C. Murali Krishna
PI and Scientific Officer “F”
Chilkapati Lab, CRI

M.Sc. (Biochemistry, Osmania University, Hyderabad 1989) and post M.Sc. (Biosciences, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta 1990). Studies on photodynamic reactions and photophysical properties of well-known radiosensitizer p-nitoracetophenone (PNAP) were pursued for Ph.D (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics/Jadavpur University, Calcutta 1997). Photodymamic properties of porphyrin were studied as post doctoral fellow (CNRS,France) and visiting faculty (Ministry of Education, France), Labo de Biophysique, MNHN, Paris (1997). Nitrogen laser induced Heamoglobin oxidation was investigated as visiting scientist (CAT, Indore, 1998–99).

After joining as a faculty (Asst. Prof. to Assoc. Prof., 1999–2007) at Centre for Laser Spectroscopy, Manipal University, Manipal, research focus shifted to diagnostic applications of Laser Raman spectroscopy. Raman and FTIR microspectroscopy applications in diagnosis using cells and tissue section have been other research activity. These studies were initiated at Unite´ Me´DIAN (UFR Pharmacie, Universite´ de Reims, France, 2002) through BOYSCAST, DST, Govt. of India and followed up during subsequent visit to the same lab as visiting scientist/professor.

Evaluation of laser Raman spectroscopic methods in vivo/in situ applications, under clinical conditions, are the major research activities at Chilakapati Laboratory ,ACTREC.
