Research Interests

Organelle biogenesis and vesicular trafficking

Our broad research area is based on ‘biogenesis and ultrastructural regulations of organelles and vesicular trafficking.’ We use basic cell biological approach along with quantitative microscopic methodologies to study various facets of our research interests in a wide spectrum of model systems that include budding yeast, mammalian cell lines, or cultured neurons. At present, our research is focused on the following key directions:

1. To study the size and shape regulations of Golgi apparatus

2. To study the ultrastructure of ER-Golgi transport portal.

3. To study of the organelle to organelle direct contact sites and their role in diseases.

4. To study the Nuclear and nucleolar size regulation.

5. To study the exosome biogenesis.

We also have an interest in optimizing fluorescent proteins for different types of microscopy.
