Ashok K Varma ( Ph.D), Principal Investigator

The mapping of human genome was new era for structural biologist to understand the structural and functional activity of proteins that encoded by genes. My group will focus on the X-ray structure determination of  biological macromolecules:  proteins - nucleic acid. This detailed 3D visualization of proteins will brings to Structure Based Drug Design – Molecular Medicine- Treatment of  Disease.

Research   Interest:

Structural Biology and Structure Based Drug Design: Three dimensional structure determination of Protein molecules. Using protein structure we modify its function and design a new drug for medicine.

Protein–DNA interactions:
Structural characterization and binding analysis  of protein-DNA to understand the DNA-repair/damage function of proteins.

Protein Dynamics:
Study of protein folding, understanding the conformational changes and binding affinity.

Bioinformatics:
Rational Drug Design, sequence analysis, 3D QSAR, molecular modeling, docking and based on drug-receptor interactions optimization of  therapeutic target molecules.
