Every year, ACTREC throws open its doors to students of science degree colleges of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai for two days in the month of December. Open Day 2007 - held on December 6-7, 2007, saw participation of over 600 students from >60 colleges from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Batches of 10-15 students from each college accompanied by their teachers were taken around various labs and facilities in CRI and CRC, to observe the latest techniques used in biomedical research in cancer and for treatment of cancer patients.

Posters on cancer awareness and prevention were displayed in the central lobby. The students were enthused on seeing high tech equipments and facilities and learning about research projects. Over the years, ACTREC's Open Day has gained immense popularity amongst college students as it provides an avenue for bright youngsters to learn of the opportunities for higher education in science and career openings in the research arena.
