Histone H3

H3 has two isoforms, H3.1 and H3.2, coded by twelve genes. These are located on chromosome number 1 and 6. The functional role of various H3 isoforms PTMs has been studied in important cellular processes such as chromatin organisation, transcriptional regulation and cell cycle control etc.
